Considering Replacement Workstations
We’re hoping to get a little discussion going here as we’d really like to know, hear the opinions of peers and interested bodies, as to what constitutes an excellent workstation. We’re setting a budget of $CA 10,000 N.I.T. (Not including taxes). And we’re setting out certain criteria … file storage, multi-tasking, related and non-related tasks, space is a premium, there is NO requirement for gaming, be part of a Network (LAN).
We’ve done some preliminary research and favour a dual processor, min 4 GB’s 1066Mhz or faster ram (not value) and maybe ECC, 3 - 4 LCD Monitors of which we have 1 of them on hand if it’s a 4 LCD horizontal setup. This 4th LCD would be on top of the main centre monitor. Another physical limitation is that the main centre monitor can not be bigger than 24″.
